    September Newsletter
This month has certainly been a busy one. We've had tourists for sea kayaking days, courses to run and Mike and Stuart Yendle became the second people ever to sea kayak to the Smalls lighthouse! A huge thank you to Martin Armstrong and Martin Charlton for their help this month.
Our sea kayak courses have been very popular this summer so we've changed the format for our "upcoming stuff"; what was the point of me telling you about courses that were already full anyway? We now post the next courses that have spaces, under the heading "available courses" only and as you can see, there's not many left this year. As they've filled so fast this year we have added all of next years dates to our website for you.
Some people are already looking forward to our winter program which was hugely popular last year. You can have a sneak preview of the sea kayak dates here and we have the whitewater schedule for you to see. All of these dates are 40 per person, per day so let us know which you are interested in as places are limited!
    DATES:
November 10/11, 2012 - White water South Wales
November 24/25, 2012 - White water North Wales

    Basic Sea Kayaking
This months beginners course saw a family book all of the places, with some preteens so we decided it would be better to run it as an intro to kayaking. Day one saw us use the SOT's and day two a sea kayak trip.
    Progressive Course
This month saw Steve and Hilary return to build on the skills they learned on a basic course with us and we welcomed another Steve and Liz who'd been on a course elsewhere before. Each person worked on improving different skils, including outside edge turns, bow rudders, navigation and a self rescue! Check out the photos on our facebook page.
    NBCP
Our Monday evening trips with Newport Boat Club Paddlers have been busy. Photos are on our facebook page.
    The Smalls Lighthouse
Nigel Foster first did this trip way back in 1984, he has been in touch and believes we may be the second ever to have sea kayaked out there! Read the story on Mike's blog.
    August WW!
It's been the wettest summer on record (apparently!) and Mike finally managed to catch some of the run off. A trip down a local run with NPBC paddlers helped to rid some of the cobwebs ahead of this winters whitewater season. Photos as always on our facebook page.
    Who's the Guru?
Mike's the "kayaking guru and guardian of the Pembrokeshire rivers" according to the new Welsh rivers guide! He helped out with the updates to our local runs for the latest edition of the book. The previous version used to be referred to by many as "the Bible" and we're looking forward to our copy arriving soon. As you can imagine, he's been dancing around since he heard the news!

Well, this ladies and gents is our second wave of Wet Weekends. We are thrilled that we are having more and more demand for trips. We have made a few adjustments based on feedback from you all. We have stopped the initial discount, so our Wet Weekends are now 200 (because you all said we were worth more than that!) But we have also made our trips FULL BOARD so you no longer pay a supplement for dinner, so in effect - the price has only gone up a fiver
We have put a bit more of a firmer time line on arrival and departure, so you can plan your comings and goings a bit easier. We ask you to arrive any time after 2pm on Friday, and we aim to have you ready to hit the road again on Sunday at 2pm. The rest is still the same. Great swims, great food and still at a great price.

We are charging no extra for you to bring your Hydro Hound, but we do ask that you have all the shots up to date and that they have recently been flea and tick treated.

    Limited availability - book now
Well, it's been a busy few months for us - lots of Wet Weekends running, and all sorts of other exciting projects - our feet don't seem to be touching the ground at the moment. Dan has just got back from his final Olympic training day - and will pretty soon be leaving North Wales to work on the Medical Team for the duration of the Olympic & Paralympic Games (hence the reason we have no trips in August). Gabs will still be around North Wales delivering our one-on-one coaching sessions, also brushing up on her Welsh, and she has also decided to learn British Sign Language too!
In the mean time, have a look at our Youtube Channel and see what we've been upto, we're also building some Pinterest boards too. On our blog, we've been chatting about access to the river Thames (twice) here and here, and how to warm up someone who is really cold, we provide a sneaky peek behind the scenes at some big swim events with an insiders view on event water safety, and we talk about the importance of teaching children to swim.
We are also very excited to launch "Wild Families". This October half term (Sat 27th to Tues 30th), Dan & Gabs are giving you the opportunity to take your family wild swimming. We are going to give you the skills and knowledge to take your kids out and about, and show them a good time out in the wild.

Epic Ski & Snowboard Trip - Hidden Powder Stashes of Japan!
We hope you have enjoyed your time windsurfing this summer? Many people have asked us what we do over the winter and we have talked about our skiing/snowboarding experiences. Well, we have now organised the ultimate skiing/snowboarding trip of a lifetime to Japan for this coming winter!
If you are planing a ski or snowboard trip with the idea of riding some powder then then this is the ultimate experience that will stay with you for ever! Japan is THE location for riding champagne powder and the lesser known spots we head to get 15-16 metres (yes that's metres!) of the lightest powder snowfall every season. Compare that to the typical seasonal snowfall in the Alps of 3-6 metres of average quality snow and you can see why this is like no other ski or snowboard trip you have ever been on.
For full details (including daily itinerary & video clips) checkout our dedicated webpage for this trip.
Limited to Only 9 Spaces - Small Group, Maximum Japanese Back Country Powder!
Get in touch early to secure a place on your backcountry skiing/snowboarding trip of a lifetime!
Japan's northern island of Hokkaido produces some of the lightest and driest powder in the world. The magic happens because Hokkaido is fed by cold air, low pressure systems originating in Siberia that pick up moisture over the Sea of Japan, creating almost perpetual high quality powder snowfalls between January and March.
The massive snowfall is only a part of the beauty of this holiday, you are also skiing in a location like no other. Where else can you ski bottomless powder, with no crowds, unlimited off-piste areas including trees, steeps & open powder fields? The scenery also sets this trip apart from any other, as you ride down the side of a volcano, cruising through snow laden tree lines and even taking in ocean views. All this combined with an unforgettable cultural experience will have you coming back on this trip every year!
    Why come on our trip?
More off-piste guided days, extensive coverage of the back country, local guides, small group, best value & an unforgettable Japanese back country powder riding experience!
