  • Melton Mowbray Sailing Club

Melton Mowbray Sailing Club was formed in 1970 to provide sailing on a lake in a disused quarry. Considerable development has taken place since then and the club stands as it it today. The area now forms a water park with attractively landscaped banks surrounding 45 acres of pleasant sailing water. Set in a nature reserve, Frisby Water Park is home to many species of wildlife, reports suggest that a family of otters may be living nearby.

At MMSC there is a slipway for easy launching and ample room on the jetty for mooring. This makes the sailing even more enjoyable as you don't have to start the race wet, especially on those cold winter mornings.

We have an extensive race program throughout the entire year, three races are held on a Sunday in the summer. On Wednesday evenings we have a personal handicap series aimed at getting new members and novices into racing without the fierce competition of Sunday racing. As a condition of membership members are expected to perform a few duties on a rota basis, (summer time only). In the winter we operate a voluntary duty system manned by those who wish to race.
